The Greater New Milford Chamber of Commerce will sponsor the annual Festival of Lights event Nov. 30 at 5:30 p.m. on the Village Green.

It is also Small Business Saturday, and a variety of events are planned at downtown businesses throughout the day.

The highlight of the Festival of Lights event in the evening will be the lighting of the Christmas trees on the Green and a parade of lights, courtesy of local volunteer fire departments.

The trees were put up by the United Methodist Men of the New Milford United Methodist Church.

This is the 47th year the trees have been put up.

In addition to the lighting of the trees, activities will include visits with Santa and a Christmas karaoke sing-along.

In recognition of Small Business Saturday, special events will include a holiday ornaments workshop at the Village Center for the Arts on Main Street at 10 a.m. ($10-25); a Susan de Weil jewelry trunk show at Spruce Home & Garden on Bank Street from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; a children's book reading at William Raveis on Bank Street at noon and 2 p.m.; and pet photographs with Santa at the Barkery Boo'tique on Bank Street from noon to 3 p.m.
