Donald J. Brelling, 48, a resident of New Milford, died July 18, 2009, at his home.

Mr. Brelling was born July 7, 1961, in Bethpage, N.Y., son of the late Edward and Mary Frances (Homerston) Brelling.

He was raised in West Redding, graduated from Joel Barlow High School, and had lived in Ridgefield at one time.

An area upholsterer for several years, Mr. Brelling also served in the United States Navy for four years, stationed in Hawaii and the Philippines.

He is survived by a son, Justin Brelling of New Milford; a sister, Pamela Kelley and her husband, Daniel, of Danbury; a brother, Ronald Brelling and his wife, Kathleen, of Bethel; three nieces, Ryan and Erin Brelling and Lauren (Brelling) McKenna; and a nephew, Kyle Brelling. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Brelling was predeceased by a sister, Susan Brelling; and two brothers, James and Glen Brelling.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated tomorrow (Saturday) at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, Georgetown. The Rev. David Leopold, Pastor, will officiate. The interment is to be private.
