Charles Wilbur "Will" Anderson, 88, of Newtown, died Aug. 25, 2009, at Danbury Hospital. He was the widower of Lillian Mary (Schimansky) Anderson.

Mr. Anderson was born April 5, 1921, in Bridgeport, son of the late Karl A. and Benny Matilda (Jacobson) Anderson. He was raised in Croton Falls, N.Y., and was a graduate of Croton Falls High School.

Mr. Anderson was a World War II Navy veteran who served aboard the destroyer-escort USS Smart as a machinist first class.

Mr. Anderson was a former supervisor for Bard-Parker Co. and for Becton, Dickinson and Company. He was a Mason and was a member of St. John's Lodge No. 6 of Norwalk.

He was a longtime resident of Newtown.

He was devoted to his family and friends.

Mr. Anderson is survived by his twin daughters, Karen Vagnini and her husband, Michael Vagnini, of Woodbury and Linda Morse and her husband, Timothy Morse II, of Washington; 12 grandchildren, Melissa (Morse) Willmott and her husband, Greg, Melanie (Morse) Reeb and her husband, Pete, Melinda (Morse) Maltz and her husband, Jeff, Meredith Morse, Timothy Morse III, Kristen Vagnini, Jennifer Vagnini, Meghan Morse, Lauren Vagnini, Travis Morse, Michael Vagnini Jr. and Thomas Morse; and three great-grandchildren, Gregory Willmott and twins, Lillian and Lorelai Reeb. He was predeceased by a son, Brian Anderson; and by a sister, Norma Apicello.

Funeral services and interment in Newtown Village Cemetery will be private. There are no calling hours.

The Honan Funeral Home of Newtown was in charge of arrangements.
