Cecilia Buck-Taylor of New Milford has received the endorsement of the Connecticut State University American Association of University Professors in her bid to become state representative for the 67th District.

The Republican candidate earned the professors' backing for her interest in issues related to maintaining and advancing a quality higher education program in the state.

"Education is a crucial part of the solution to get Connecticut's economy back on track," said Ms. Buck-Taylor, a local attorney and small business owner.

"We have to make certain the next generation of people entering our workforce has the skills needed to be competitive," she said, "to help us succeed in a recovering economy."

The professors' group includes faculty from the four state-run universities, including Western Connecticut State University in Danbury.

On the subject of the recovering economy and its relationship to college and vocational school graduates entering the workforce, Ms. Buck-Taylor said she is looking forward to working in Hartford to fully implement a Republican initiative -- Learn Here, Live Here -- that hopes to give students an easier path to prosperity.
