Bruce E. Carusillo, 53, was an avid golfer

Bruce Edward Carusillo, 53, of Washington, died Aug. 30, 2009, at his home following a year-long battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his family He was the husband of Lori (Longo) Carusillo.

Mr. Carusillo was born Dec. 23, 1955, in Waterbury, son of Gloria (Perugini) Carusillo of Waterbury and the late Elmer Carusillo.

He was a graduate of Wilby High School and the University of Connecticut. He received his master's degree from the University of Hartford.

Mr. Carusillo was a certified public accountant for 30 years. In addition to his CPA practice, he founded Patriot Home Loans Inc. and Patriot Business Loans Inc. He also owned BEC Holdings, LLC in Woodbury and was a financial planner with Barnum Financial Group in Shelton, a MetLife affiliate.

He was a member of AICPA, CSCPA, Mortgage Brokers of Connecticut and the CTPGA.

Mr. Carusillo was a Little League coach in Woodbury and Washington.

He was an avid golfer, competing in and winning many tournaments throughout his life. He was a member of Ridgewood Country Club and Watertown Golf Club.

Mr. Carusillo was a communicant of St. Teresa Church of Woodbury and Our Lady of Perpetual Help of Washington.

In addition to his wife of 32 years, Mr. Carusillo is survived by two sons, Jared Carusillo and Scott Carusillo; a daughter, Brianna; his mother, Gloria; two brothers and their wives, Todd and Kim Carusillo of Goshen and Robert and Gayle Carusillo of Watertown; a sister, Deborah (Carusillo) Smolley, of Watertown; a brother-in-law, Atty. Stephen Longo and his wife, Rosanne, of Clinton; a sister-in-law, Marisa (Longo) Cruz, of Waterbury; a mother-in-law, Ann Longo, of Watertown; and several nieces and nephews.

The Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home of Waterbury was in charge of arrangements.
