STRATFORD — Police have charged a 31-year-old Bridgeport man with shooting a woman on Birch Drive this month.

Calvin Williams faces charges of first-degree assault, first-degree robbery, home invasion, first-degree threatening, carrying a pistol without a permit, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, reckless endangerment and risk of injury to a minor.

Most of the charges related to the shooting, which was reported about 8:30 p.m. Sept. 3, Stratford Police Capt. Frank Eannotti said in a prepared statement released Friday.

“Upon arrival one female gun shot victim was located,” he said. “She was transported to the hospital for treatment and is in stable condition.”

Stratford detectives obtained a warrant charging Williams and arrested him in Bridgeport Friday with the help of Bridgeport police.

“Recovered at the time of arrest was ammunition, a large amount of cash and narcotics (Ecstasy),” Eannotti said.

Williams was being held on $750,000 bond Friday, Eannotti said.
