Arts center to open season May 10
The Merryall Center for the Arts in New Milford will kick off its 2014 season, featuring entertainment performances and other special events, May 10.
Programs will be held at 8 p.m., unless otherwise noted.
Offerings will include a program with Larry Hunt, actor, director, mask-maker and educator, May 10; music by the East Shore Steel band May 31; "Around the World in 60 Minutes," a musical performance by Samantha Lane Talmadge, June 14; music by Brianne Chasanoff, who will perform selections from her albums, and guest performers June 21; music by pianist Margarita Nuller, July 12; music by the Jolly Beggars, July 19; music by the Ali Ryerson Trio, who will perform Brazilian favorites, Sept. 6; "Brazili and Beyond," a program of music by Judy Handler and Mark Levesque, Sept. 13; and music by the Asylum Quartet, Oct. 11.
In addition, the Bearcats will perform as part of the center's annual jazz barbecue Aug. 24 at 3 p.m.
Tanglewood on the West Aspetuck, where patrons are invited to bring a picnic for dining on the center's deck along the river, will be offered before evening performances.
Special events will include an "Antiques Road Show"-style event, and "A Rising Stars" show featuring young performers.
Individual performances are $25, except for the July 12 show, which is free. A subscription for $100 entitles a patron to attend five events. A Merryall membership entitles a patron to all entertainment performances and lectures.
