Arts center to kick off 2015 season

The Merryall Center for the Arts in New Milford will kick off the season May 9 with a program of folk music by Kristen Graves May 9 at 8 p.m.

The season will feature 12 programs and several special events.

Future offerings include blues and jazz music with New Milford's Joe Burcaw as part of Mascot's Distance May 16; music with Echoes of Sinatra May 30; music by Berkshire Big Band June 13; Klezmer and Eastern European music with Bivolita June 27; music by the Danbury Brass Band July 11; a program of poetry and music, Voices of Poetry, July 25; chamber music by The Deming Quartet Sept. 19; music by Lynn Henderson Sept. 29; South American music by Tom Do Barasil Oct. 3; a battle of the bands Oct. 4; and a program of flute and guitar music by the Rosewood Chamber Ensemble Oct. 31, all at 8 p.m.

In addition, the center's annual jazz picnic will be held Aug. 16.

Other events include a movie series featuring Litchfield County resident Meryl Streep, on dates to be announced; a benefit for the center's Steinway piano Aug. 29; a program with State Representative Cecilia Buck-Taylor, who will talk about Litchfield County's heroes, Sept. 20; an antiques appraisal fair, the center's version of "Antiques Road Show," Oct. 25; and a road rally Oct. 11.
