Driver suffers life-threatening injuries in Ansonia crash
ANSONIA — A two-vehicle crash in the city Thursday night left one driver with life-threatening injuries and the other driver with serious injuries, according to police.
At 9:05 p.m., Ansonia police, fire and medical personnel were sent to the area of 248 N. Main St. to investigate a report of a collision.
“Upon arrival, officers located two vehicles with severe front end damage in the middle of the intersection of North Main Street and Forest Avenue,” police said. “Officers tended to the drivers of each vehicle. One operator needed to be extricated.”
Both drivers were taken to Yale New Haven Hospital to be treated. Police said one driver suffered serious injuries while the other sustained life-threatening injuries.
Police said around 1 a.m. Friday that the crash remained under investigation and the drivers’ names were not yet being released.
Both drivers were still hospitalized as of Friday morning, according to Lt. Patrick Lynch.
The driver who suffered life-threatening injuries was listed in critical condition, Lynch said.
