BRIDGEPORT — A female victim was wounded in a shooting on Pixlee Place on Saturday afternoon and police have a person of interest in custody as they work to piece together what happened, officials said.

The gunfire rang out on Pixlee Place near Grant Street shortly after 3 p.m. A female victim was shot in the buttocks and her injuries are not considered to be life-threatening, police Capt. Brian Fitzgerald said.

“Detectives are interviewing witnesses and examining evidence at the scene,” he said. “We have a person of interest detained, but have not yet made an arrest. We are hopeful the victim will cooperate with investigators and are working to establish a motive for the shooting.”

The Saturday afternoon shooting comes on the heels of a shooting on George Street Friday night that landed two victims in the hospital for wounds sustained from glass fragments during a shots fired incident. Police officials initially said Friday night the two victims had been hit by gunfire, but clarified on Saturday that it was glass fragments.
