#ThrowbackThursday is part of an ongoing series highlighting the culture of Connecticut throughout the past few decades.
Oans, Zwoa, Drei, G'Suffa!
On Saturday, cities around the world will kick off perhaps one of the most famous beer festivals of all time - Oktoberfest.
The roots of Oktoberfest stretch all the way back to Munich, Germany in 1811, when the citizens of Munich threw a celebration for the marriage King Ludwig I and Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen.
Over 200 years later, the celebration of Oktoberfest has grown beyond its humble roots however, if you want to witness the true essence of Oktoberfest, schnitzel and all, Munich is the place to be.
So throw on your lederhosen, and grab a Die Mass - we are heading back in time to see how Oktoberfest has been celebrated in its homeland.
