Robert Scribner, 77, was brother of New Milford man
Robert E. Scribner, 77, of Montville, died Nov. 4, 2009.
Mr. Scribner, who was a professional boxer in his earlier years, fought his last fight and lost it to cancer.
Mr. Scribner was born June 18, 1932, in Waterville, Maine, son of the late G. Frederick and the late Ruth (Morris) Scribner.
Raised in Springdale, Mr. Scribner attended local schools and graduated from Stamford High School in 1952.
After, he served in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged.
Throughout his life his true passion was boxing.
Mr. Scribner is survived by a brother, Frederick Scribner, and his wife, Patricia, of New Milford; a sister, Mary Stone, and her husband, Paul, of Indianapolis, Ind.; a sister-in-law, Joan, of Lewisboro, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Thomas Scribner.
Interment will be at the States Veterans Cemetery in Middletown at the convenience of the family.
The Lillis Funeral Home of New Milford was in charge of arrangements.
