Several events will be held in New Milford and Sherman in the coming days as part of the “One Book, One Lake” series co-sponsored by the librarires in the five towns that surround Candlewood Lake.

Events will include a gourmet dining on the Appalachian Trail, featuring a demonstration and tasting, with The Silo Cooking School director July 26 from 1 to 4 p.m. at The Silo on Upland Road in the Northville section of New Milford, with registration by calling (860) 355-0300; a program about Native American communities and culture in Connecticut’s Northwest corner July 29 at 7:30 p.m. at Sherman Historical Society in Sherman Center, with registration by calling (860) 354-3803; and a children’s concert on the lawn with the Sherman Chamber Ensemble at Sherman Library in Sherman Center Aug. 8 at 2 p.m.

In addition, the New Milford and Sherman historical societies are presenting photography and memorabilia exhibits about Candlewood Lake in recognition of the lake’s 80th anniversary.
