During the nine weeks of basic combat training, the soldier received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons employment, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid skills, and Army history, core values and traditions.
Additional training included development of basic combat skills and battlefield operations and tactics, and experienced use of various weapons and weapons defenses available to the infantry crewman.
Pvt. Schneider is the son of Lori Schneider of Upper Mallett Lane in New Milford and Richard Schneider of Orchard Street in Brookfield.
The private is a 2008 graduate of New Milford High School.
-Sean E. McCarthy has received an Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) college scholarship offer to attend a selected host college or university.
Upon graduation from college and completion of the ROTC program, the cadet will receive a bachelor's degree and a commission of second lieutenant in the Air Force.
-Airman 1st Class Grant Dupill, 47th Medical Operations Squadron received his XLer of the Week award at Laughlin Air Force Base in Texas. Dupill is a New Milford resident.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
