Milford photographer goes viral thanks to Ellen DeGeneres
Milford photographer Ute-Christin Cowan moved to the United States from Germany 17 years ago. Working as an au-pair in a new country, she found comfort and familiarity in beloved talk show host, Ellen DeGeneres.
"The comedienne's television talk show has been a regular source of support and inspiration as Ute dealt with life in a new country, college studies, finding a job, getting married and becoming the mother of two children, and then establishing her own business," according to a release. "DeGeneres provided those sparks of positivity when Ute-Christin Cowan needed them during that journey."
This past week, Cowan received a nod of approval from DeGeneres herself when the Ellen Show posted one of Cowan's photo shoots on its official social media pages.
Cowan, a newborn and child photographer, decided to celebrate the 17th season of the Ellen Show with a cakesmash photoshoot featuring 1-year-old Ariella from Milford. Jade Ramos, also of Milford, made the cake and helped with the set decoration.
The blonde toddler captured the attention of the Ellen Show and prompted them to share the photo with the caption "This is my kind of party."
"I photograph a lot of cakesmashes throughout the year and people always request their favorite Disney characters, food or color setup. I figured this woul be a fun way to remind everyone to be kind and to pay tribute to my favorite talkshow host," said Cowan.
Cowan said she has seen an increase in her social media activity since the shoot, and hopes "in a small way [it] helps support Ellen in spreading the message of kindness and fun at a time when the world sorely needs that spirit."
Cowan would love to someday meet DeGeneres in person, though.
"It would be a dream to one day meet her and shake her hand, yes very much so," she said.
