Kent Library announces programs
The Kent Memorial Library has announced its offerings in the coming days.
nAn exhibit of paintings by Kent resident Scott Bricher is on display through Oct. 31. A reception will be held Sept. 12 from 3 to 5 p.m.
Mr. Bricher most recently won Best in Show and the Medal of Merit Award at President's Show at the Kent Art Association.
n Dr. Betty Krasne will lead the fall book discussion group based on the subject of how readers respond to works read in translation.
The group will meet Sept. 10, Oct. 8, Nov. 5 and Dec. 17 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the library.
The books to be read will be "The White King" by Gyorgy Dragoman, translated by Paul Olchvary (2007); "Out Stealing Horses" by Per Petterson, translated by Anne Born (2005); "The Yacoubian Building" by Alaa Al Aswany, translated by Humphrey Davies (2002); and "Snow Country" by Yasunari Kawabata, translated by Edward G. Seidensticker (1956).
