The Kent Memorial Library has announced the publication of its long-range plan (2009-2014).

An executive summary, a brief compendium of the longer version, is available at the library or can be accessed through the library's website at www.kentmemoriallibrary.org.

The 39-page document was developed by Laura McLaughlin, library director, and Elizabeth Mainiero of Cupolo Consulting, andthe board of directors of the Kent Library Association with the assistance of a Long Range Planning Committee.

The latter included John Youngblood, chairman, architect John Allee, Jim Blackketter, Ken Cooper, Bill Manasse, Lorry Schiesel and Susi Williams.

The plan took seven months of work.

"The purpose of this plan is to establish priorities which will allow the board, staff and other members of the community to make resource allocation decisions to improve the collect, programs and services of the Kent Memorial Library," as stated in the executive summary.

A series of community meetings were held to elicit comments and thoughts from Kent residents.

The information was important in shaping the goals and objectives for the library, observed Mrs.McLaughlin.
