Julie M. (Caplan) Murad, 82, of Bethel, died Nov. 19, 2009, at her home after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of Joseph A. Murad.

Mrs. Murad was born Aug. 8, 1927, in Danbury, daughter of the late Charles and Sadie (Asmar) Murad.

She attended Danbury schools and graduated in the Danbury High School Class of 1946.

Mrs. Murad was employed in early years as a telephone operator with the Southern New England Telephone Company.

After raising her family, she later was employed at the Sweater Shop of Bethel.

A lifelong area resident, she was an active member of St. Anthony's Maronite Catholic Church of Danbury, its Ladies Guild and holiday bazaar committee.

In addition to her husband of 50 years, Mrs. Murad is survived by two sons, Joseph C. Murad, and his wife, Denise, of New Milford and Charles "Chuck" Murad, and his wife, Laura, of Danbury; two daughters, Joanne Baden, and her husband, Rob, of Rockfall, and Louanne Allen, and her husband, Greg, of Boston; two sisters, Mary Maher, of Roseland, N.J., and Helen DeSantis, of Bristol; six grandchildren, Joseph Jr., Nicholas, Rachel and Sara Murad and Melanie and Lauren Baden, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Frieda Caplan and Rose Miller, and three brothers, Richard Joseph and Edward Caplan.
