'Holiday in the Depot' on tap in Washington

The town of Washington will hold its annual Holiday in the Depot event Dec. 11 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Festivities will include the lighting of the town Christmas tree at 6 p.m. at town hall in Bryan Memorial Plaza.

There is no rain or snow date.

Santa will arrive shortly after the tree lighting and will be available to meet and have his photograph taken with children at town hall.

Letters to Santa may be mailed at town hall.

Other offerings will include children's crafts, the singing of carols by the Washington Children's Choir, horse-drawn carriage rides, music by local schools and activities with Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and the Tail Waggers 4-H.

Donations of items to be sent to troops for the holiday will also be collected.

Seniors will sell an assortment of items at the nearby senior center, where chili will be served.

Hot dogs will also be sold.

In addition, many businesses will be open late that night.

The event is co-sponsored by the Washington Business Association, Inc., the Washington Parks and Recreation Department and the town of Washington.
