Erin Elizabeth Reynolds, 48, of West Hartford, died Oct. 12, 2009, after an extended battle with blood disease and intestinal illness.

Ms. Reynolds was born May 7, 1961, in New Milford, to James Reynolds and Catherine (MacCarthy) Reynolds, New Milford's tax collector.

Ms. Reynolds attended Canterbury School in New Milford and was active as alumni agent for the Class of 1979. She held a BA from University of Florida and received her MBA from American University.

She followed a long and successful career in finance, earning CFP, RIA, and CEP certifications. During her career, she held positions at Kidder Peabody, Phoenix Home Life and New England Financial as an insurance and estate-planning specialist, and later advised in private practice in the New York, California and Connecticut areas.

After settling in West Hartford, she was active in many charitable organizations, including My Sister's Place and The Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford.

Known for her pluck, humor and forthright style, she in recent years fought bravely through a succession of physical complications that nonetheless did not diminish her spirit.

Ms. Reynolds is remembered by her family and friends as a beloved mother, daughter and sister who displayed great energy and sense of life.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by two daughters, Jacqueline, 23, of New York City and Alexandra, 18, of Washington, D.C.; an older brother, Stephen, sister-in-law, Hilary Sterne, and nephew, Tynan, of New York City; and a younger brother, Patrick, sister-in-law, Michelle (Crawford) Reynolds, nephew, Sean, and niece, Colleen, of Charlotte, N.C.

The family will receive visitors and friends today (Friday) from 4 to 6 p.m. at Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford.

A memorial service and luncheon is tentatively planned for Oct. 31 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Our Lady at Canterbury School, New Milford. To confirm details, call (800) 526-1710.
