Doris Devaux, 98, was a resident of Kent
Mrs. Devaux was born Jan. 28, 1911, in Hamden, daughter of the late George and Nellie (Burhnam) Neal.
She married Garwood Devaux Feb. 22, 1933, in Hamden.
Mrs. Devaux was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Kent, as well as a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Kent, the Kent Grange, the Informal Club, the Kent Historical Society and the Kent Garden Club.
Mrs. Devaux is survived by four daughters, Judy Chatain, and her husband, Henry, of New Milford, Nancy Eidam, and her husband, Gerald, of Santa Cruz, Calif., Deborah Devaux, of Kent, and Jennifer Hearn, and her husband, James, of Aspen, Colo.; nine grandchildren, Melissa Chatain, Peter Chatain, Holly Irving, Gar Eidam, Gralen Wilson, Julia Devaux, Anna Hearn, Gillian Hearn and Jenny Hearn; and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Harry Neal, and a sister, Ethel Campbell.
There are no calling hours. Funeral services will be held today (Friday) at 11 a.m. at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 1 North Main St., Kent, with the Rev. Roger White officiating. Burial will follow at Kent Hollow Cemetery.
The Hufcut Funeral Home Dover Plains, N.Y., was in charge of arrangements.
