Dennis Manual Cavalleiro, 52, of Kent, died Dec. 24, 2009.

He was the husband of Maria Jesus (Chucha) Cavalleiro. They celebrated their 32nd wedding anniversary this past September.

Mr. Cavalleiro was born Sept. 11, 1957, in The Bronx, N.Y., to Violet Granda of New Fairfield and the late Manuel Cavalleiro.

He and his wife met in Aviles, Asturias, Spain, in the summer of 1972 when they were 15 years old. Their goal was to retire to Spain to be with his wife's family.

His wife and family will travel to Spain at his bequest to scatter his ashes in the ocean near the town in which he and Chucha met.

Mr. Cavalleiro is a graduate of LaSalle Military Academy. A resident of Kent since 1987, he had a 20-year employment history with Danbury Printing and Litho and, most recently, the United States Postal Service.

He was well known in the Kent community, often seen at the local coffee shop where his wife, Chucha, is the chocolatier. He enjoyed spending quiet time at home with his family or eating dinner out at Doc's in Kent.

Mr. Cavalleiro had a passion for music, playing the bongos and collecting watches. He was passionate about the Dominican Republic and would do anything for his dog, Tifu.

In addition to his mother and his wife, he leaves a daughter, Caroline (Nina) Blue and her husband, Kareem Blue, of Bethlehem; a daughter, Natalia Bedoya, of Virginia; a granddaughter, Skyy Maree Blue, of Bethlehem; a stepfather, Jose Granda, of New Fairfield; two sisters, Sandra Cerqueira and Veronica Reinherz; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Cavalleiro's memory may be made to a trust for the benefit of his only grandchild, Skyy M. Blue.
