Colonial Day on tap at historical society

The New Milford Historical Society will hold a Colonial Family Day Sept. 27 from 1 to 4 p.m.
Festivities will include demonstrations of open hearth cooking, silhouette cutting, quilting, rug hooking, plein air painting and soap making.
In addition, interactive activities will include churning ice cream, stitching a sampler, sewing a quilt block, making herbal sachets, dipping candles, making a simple rag doll, carding fleece, scrubbing clothes, making a scarecrow, bobbing for apples and stenciling.
Silhouette artists will offer sittings on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Baked goods, along with items such as books, prints, maps, New Milford medallions and other items in the gift shop, will be available to purchase.
The museum at 6 Aspetuck Ave. will also be open for tours of its permanent collection, the Knapp House, and its featured exhibit of quilts and shirred rugs.
Admission to Colonial Family Day is $12 per family for members and $15 per family for non-members. Admission for single individuals is $5 for members and $7 for non-members.
