An old-fashioned beef barbecue will be held Aug. 8 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on the front lawn of the Roxbury Congregational Church on Church Street.

A summer tradition since the 1960s, the public dinner is known for its spit-roasted beef, fresh-picked corn on the cob, baked potatoes, special homemade coleslaw and make-your-own hot fudge and butterscotch ice cream sundaes.

The cost is $12 for adults, $5 for children aged 5-11 and free for children under 5.
