Spartan boys' tennis

Coach: David Bilmes, 2nd season.

2010 record, accomplishments: 3-15 record; singles players Linden Crumrine and Ian Roulat qualified for the state class `S' tournament.

2011 captains: Linden Crumrine and Tyler Palmese.

Coach's outlook: "Not only do we have our entire team back, we also have several new players -- junior Ayden Crumrine and sophomore Kellen Rikhoff, who should make an impact on our varsity lineup. Our top returnee is Linden Crumrine, who was 10-8 at No. 1 singles for us last year and was the fourth seed in the Berkshire League tournament. Ian Roulat did a solid job at second singles and will play either singles or doubles this season. We had a group of other players, including senior Tyler Palmese, junior Andrew Stern and sophomores Thomas Andrews, Jack Brotherton, Michael Korniewicz, Richie Wilhelm and Ellery Rourk, who took their lumps playing varsity last year against more experienced players. Most of this group has worked hard during the offseason and will be battling for spots in our lineup. With our full lineup returning and the addition of some talented newcomers, we expect to improve on last year's record and be more competitive against the top teams in the league, which once again will be Nonnewaug, Lewis Mills and Litchfield."
