Volunteers sought for CERT program
The New Milford Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) has announced it is accepting registration for its fall volunteer training session.
New Milford CERT members act as second responders, assisting first responders in the event of a disaster.
Some of the training topics will include fire prevention, disaster medical operations and light search and rescue.
All CERT members are American Red Cross certified in first aid and CPR/automated external defibrillator.
Members will have an opportunity to spend a weekend at the Connecticut Fire Academy for additional training.
In the past, New Milford CERT has participated in local activities such as traffic control for town events and help with seasonal flu clinics through the Health Department.
In addition, CERT recently provided emergency preparedness information and recruited new members at the Village Fair Days.
