n Army National Guard Pvt. Kyle D. Besaw, son of David Besaw of New Milford and Rose Besaw of Shirley, N.Y., has been mobilized and activated at Fort Dix, N.J., in preparation for deployment to serve in support of either Operations Iraqi Freedom or Enduring Freedom.
The soldier is a member of the 442nd Military Police Company, Jamaica, N.Y.
The soldier, who graduated from high school in 2005, is a military police member with two years of military service.
n Army Private James T. Larson has graduated from the Field Artillery Automated Tactical Systems Specialist Advanced Individual Training course at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.
n Pfc. Ryan Hogan, 20, graduated from boot camp at Marine Corps Recruit Depot at Parris Island on Aug. 29.
He successfully completed 13 weeks of intensive basic training as one of 65 recruits in Training Platoon 3068.
He graduated from the USMC's School of Infantry Oct. 31 at Camp Geiger, N.C.
Pfc. Hogan was a recipient of the Rosato Award at New Milford High School as well as the Michael Kohut Memorial Award, named after the late son of Southern lacrosse official Commissioner Pete Kohut.
He was also named to the All Area team in football and lacrosse while attending New Milford High School. He attended Dean College for two years, where he captained the lacrosse team.
He is the son of John Hogan of Bethel and Nancy and Carol Pozvek of New Milford. His sister Shannon is also a resident of New Milford.
Pfc. Hogan has been assigned to the 3rd Battalion 6th Marine Regiment, "The Devil Dogs" at Camp Lejeune, N.C. He asked to thank his teachers, coaches and community for their support.
n Cadet Nolan Gallagher recently completed his 4th Class (freshman) year at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London.
Now, as a 3rd Class cadet, he begins his summer training this month on Lake Ontario and then travels to Cozumel, Mexico, to board the Coast Guard Cutter Eagle.
The Eagle, "America's Tall Ship," is scheduled to visit several ports in the Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico this summer and will participate in the Vela Sud America 2010 celebrations with other sail-training vessels from around the world.
Cadet Gallagher, an All-SWC and All-Area baseball player for New Milford High School in 2009, played center field for the Coast Guard this season.
In late April, the Coast Guard's baseball team made an amazing run all the way to the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) championship game.
It was the Coast Guard's fourth appearance in the NEWMAC championship game and first since 2003.
-Army National Guard Pvt. Tyler D. Mosher has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
Pvt. Mosher, the son of Linda Mosher of New Milford, is a 2009 graduate of Henry Abbott Technical High School, Danbury.
n Army National Guard Pvt. Richard J. Pickle has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Knox, Ky.
Pvt. Pickle, the son of Timothy J. Pickle of New Milford, graduated in 2008 from New Milford High School.
The officers are trained to solve dilemmas, make rapid decisions and lead soldiers in the contemporary operating environment. Graduates are prepared and readied to lead small units upon arrival at their first assignment.
Baldwin, a basic tank and amphibian vehicle officer, is assigned to L Troop, 2nd Battalion, 16th Calvary Regiment, Fort Knox, Ky.
He is the son of Maynard F. and Cynthia A. Baldwin of Vermont Route 132, Sharon, Vt.
His wife, Julie, is the daughter of Richard and Joan M. Reynolds of Green Pond Road, Sherman.
