The Merryall Center for the Arts in New Milford will present a special program, a departure from its typical musical fare, July 24 at 8 p.m.

Francis G. Okelo, a native of Uganda, now living in New Milford, will lead a discussion on the Middle East, other world hot spots and the United Nation's role.

Mr. Okelo's resume includes service as the Ugandan ambassador to Belgium, as the U.N. Secretary General's special envoy to Afghanistan and Pakistan in the 1990s, as the U.N. Secretary General's special envoy to the MidEast peace process in the 2000s and as the U.N. Secretary General's special envoy to Sierra Leone in the 2000s, and he brokered the peace treaty in Ethiopia.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students.
