With the end of summer just around the corner, Home Depot recently joined forces with the New Milford Senior Center to offer seniors a creative way to hold on to the season for as long as they are able.

Two Home Depot representatives visited the center Aug. 26 to present a decorative planter workshop as part of the company's Kids Workshop Program.

While the seniors aren't kids, kids -- in this case, the grandchildren of workshop participants -- were invited to join the fun. Several took up the offer and good time was apparently had by all.

Home Depot supplied all of the materials and plants for the workshop and helped participants construct the planters.

Participants included Dorothy McNeill, Denise Wetmore, Marissa Halkett, Steve Horwath, Terri Holding, Art Junke, Mildred Farmer, Josie Kuchta, Mary Schroeder, Laura Foster, Home Depot associate support supervisor Fern Smenyak, Giovina Valente, Jennie DiFabbio , Pat Vontobel, Mickey Vincent, Jenna Junke, Rosie Markstaller, Bella Garcia, Angela Haglund, Ann Bello, Home Depot front end supervisor Johanna Wilson, Thelma Neufeld and Anthony Chiodo.
