The Kent Memorial Library has announced its upcoming and ongoing events.

They will include for children entering fifth grade and older, a screening of “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” July 16 at 7 p.m.; a $15 babysitting workshop for children aged 12 and older Aug. 1 at noon; and a screening of the new “Alice in Wonderland” Aug. 13 at 6 p.m.

In addition, a free outdoor concert with One World will be presented July 3 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Golden Falcon Lot on Main Street and The Sherman Chamber Ensemble will present a concert July 9 at 2 p.m. at the library.

Ongoing offerings include Music and Rhyme for infants to 3-year-olds Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. and Lunch Bunch Thursdays at 12:30 p.m. at Emery Park.

•The library’s annual book sale will be open Fridays and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. and Saturdays and holidays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the library’s front lawn.

•”Head and Branches,” a stainless steel, aluminum and bronze sculpture by Argentine sculptor Raul Farco, will be on display in the library’s courtyard through April 2011.

The sculpture is the first in a series of rotating 12-month long exhibits.

The library will sell each sculpture, with a portion of the proceeds to benefit its operating fund.

•Tickets for the library’s 2010 car raffle are available to purchase for $10 at the library.

The prize, a restored classic 1952 red MG TD roadster, will be on display outside the library most weekends during the summer.

The drawing will be held Oct. 31 at 4 p.m. The winner need not be present.
