Busy holiday calendar set in the village center

The Village Center Organization will present many holiday events in New Milford this December.

A Christmas stroll with Santa Claus will begin today (Friday), Dec. 3 at 5:30 p.m. with live music on the Village Green.

The tree-lighting at the town hall will complement the lighting each evening of brightly lit trees lining the Village Green, courtesy of the United Methodist Church men's club.

Santa Claus and Mayor Pat Murphy will light the Town Hall tree at 6 p.m.

The stroll with Santa Claus will cruise along Bank St. shops starting at 6:30 p.m.

Also scheduled today are the Wine Women Shoes and Santa Baby party at Sassy Shoe, located at 43 Bank St.; a trunk show at the New Milford Hospital gift shop from noon to 3 p.m.; and Swank on Bank's holiday party with wine and elves.

Events tomorrow (Saturday), Dec. 4 will include the VCO's Gingerbread Man hunt kick-off.

Patrons can search for the Gingerbread Men to be eligible for a gift basket. The winner will be announced Dec. 23.

Other events are a showing of "Elf" at the Bank Street Theater at 11 a.m.; a reading with Santa Claus in The Book Nook at 2 p.m.; and a craft bazaar at the railroad station.

"The Six Wives of Henry LeFay" will be presented at the Bank Street Theater Sunday at 11 a.m.

A gingerbread house decorating workshop will be offered Sunday at the Village Center of the Arts from noon to 4 p.m.

The "Local Ladies" music group will perform Wednesday, Dec. 8 from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. at 59 Bank.

A friends and family sale will be offered Dec. 9 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the New Milford Hospital gift shop.

A Santa Claus appearance and a dog parade will be held at the Barkery Boo'tique, located at 38 Bank St., Dec. 11 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with picture time during the event.

The hands on train display, hosted by the Greater New Milford Chamber of Commerce, will be open from Dec. 18 through Dec. 31 at the railroad station.

"Ole Time Christmas" with horse and buggy hayrides around the Village Green will be offered Dec. 19.
