American Legion sets Veterans Day service, other event

The American Legion Hall, Jennings Post No. 153 in Kent will hold a Veterans Day service and kick off its Holiday Hopes for Our Overseas Troops collection drive Nov. 11.
The Veterans Day service will be held at 11 a.m. at the new World War II, Korean and Vietnam memorial in front of the Swift House on Route 341.
Items for the collection drive, which is co-sponsored by Davis IGA and Kent's American Legion Hall Jennings Post No. 153, will benefit service people in Iraq, Afghanistan and other overseas locations.
A list of suggested foods, toiletries, clothing and leisure-time materials will be available in front of Davis IGA on Kent Green and collected at the store through Nov. 21.
Lottery tickets, aerosol cans, pork products, glass containers and like items should be avoided.
