Activities planned at New Milford Senior Center

The New Milford Senior Center will host and co-sponsor a number of events and programs in coming weeks.

The center has introduced another driver to drive a second bus available to seniors from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. To reserve a ride, call 860-355-6075 at least three days in advance. Upon finishing an appointment, call the office back for a ride home.

Only bus passes will be accepted.

Stop & Shop and Walmart trips will be Wednesdays and Fridays only. When New Milford schools are closed due to inclement weather, the buses would not run. For more information, call 860-355-6075.

Activities for Mondays include zumba gold at 9:30 a.m.; a handiwork circle at 10 a.m.; beginners bridge at 10:30 a.m.; Mah-Jongg at 12:30 p.m.; and bingo at 12:40 p.m.

Tuesday activities include the wood-carving group at 9:30 a.m., yoga with Kristin at 9:45 a.m., exercise with Kathy at 11 a.m., Scrabble at 1 p.m. and the quilt circle at 1 p.m.

Wednesday activities include Zumba gold at 9:30 a.m., a blood pressure checkup and pre-diabetes screening with the VNA from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. and the bridge group at 12:30 p.m.

Thursday activities include mah jongg at 9:30 a.m.; yoga with Dina at 10:45 a.m.; and bridge group at 1 p.m.

Friday activities include Mah-Jongg at 9:30 a.m., yoga with Dina at 10:30 a.m. and Wii bowling at 1 p.m.

Other activities include a roast beef dinner at 11:30 a.m. and Wii bowling at 1 p.m. Feb. 4;

"For your Health" talk at 10 a.m. Feb. 7;

Storytime with the Children's Center at 10 a.m. and AARP at the Maxx at noon Feb. 9;

Bible discussion group at 10:30 a.m. and an advisory board special meeting at 11 a.m. Feb. 10;

Odd Fellows men's breakfast 9 a.m., a Valentine's Dance and lunch 10:30 a.m. Feb. 11;

The center needs volunteer drivers for the "Meals on Wheels" delivery service, and could use help with volunteer recruitment and scheduling.
