Ridgefield’s Lounsbury House hosts Ives Fest outdoor concert
Paul Frucht, artistic director of the Charles Ives Music Festival, would like you to enjoy some beautiful live music outside Lounsbury House on Main Street in Ridgefield.
A free chamber music concert will take place there Wednesday, Aug. 12, 6:30 p.m. The show is called “Horizon,” and will be performed by a string quartet comprised of Charles Ives Music Festival guest artists Julia Choi, Molly Goldman, Mitch Lyon and Chelsea Starbuck Smith.
These artists will perform a creative program by composers Caroline Shaw, Florence Price, Carlos Simon, Jessie Montgomery, Christopher Theofanidis, Antonín Dvořák and Frucht.
The program “features works telling stories of American reflection, rejuvenation, and innovation, and feels like a great place to start as we begin the process of getting live music going again.” Frucht said in a news release.
Frucht said the concert is presented “with a renewed appreciation for the luxury of live music” and all it entails, especially “the electricity between the performers and audience that can only be created with in-person performances.”
Bring your lawn chairs or blankets to enjoy this concert while social distancing. The music will run about an hour. Masks must be worn and everyone is asked to register in advance to attend, as space is limited.
