Filming in CT: Christmas movie set to film in New London next week

From a Hallmark movie starring Chad Michael Murray to a Netflix Christmas movie starring Justin Hartley, Connecticut has served as the backdrop for many movies this spring and summer. And another Christmas movie is set to film on the Connecticut shoreline next week.

According to filming permits from the city of New London, a movie called “The Christmas Fix” will be filming in the area on Monday, July 19. Economic Development Coordinator Elizabeth Nocera said in an email that the production was setting up on Friday for the Monday shoot date, and will be filming at Muddy Waters Café on Bank Street.

In a Facebook post, the café announced that it would be closed on Monday to be “used as one of the locations for a new Hallmark Christmas movie.” According to owner David Preka, while he can't reveal too much about the film, he said being selected to serve as the Hallmark film's location is "an honor."

"[The director] came in, and literally within a minute, says 'This is the spot,'" Preka said. "We are very pleased...Our customers are happy. We've been receiving so much support — it's been one busy week."

Preka also noted that the café has "other inquiries about other potential movies" to be filmed at his New London eatery.

As of July 16, there are no additional details available on the cast or premiere date for the film.
