CityCenter Danbury will kick off the holiday season with the annual Light the Lights celebration on Saturday evening, Dec. 7.

Residents are invited to the Danbury Library Plaza for a holiday celebration with hot cocoa and cookies for the kids and plenty of holiday entertainment.

Mayor Mark Boughton will flip the switch to light up the downtown streetscape, featuring more than 20,000 twinkling lights, signaling the start of the holiday season.

At about 5:15 p.m., there will be performances, including music and Clara and the mice from the Danbury Music Centre’s “Nutcracker.”

Beginning at 5:30 p.m., area fire houses will take part in the 5th annual lighted fire truck parade down Main Street. Santa will arrive on the final fire truck in the parade and then visits with children at the library plaza. Mrs. Claus will be at the plaza, too.

“We are excited to invite Danbury families to join us downtown once again for the Light the Lights festivities,” Boughton said in a news release. “Thank you to our partners and sponsors for allowing us to provide this free and fun, family event. We hope to see you downtown.”

Eversource Energy and the City of Danbury are sponsors.
