The New Milford Clean Energy Task Force recently partnered with Brookfield's EnergyPRZ and Collinsville's TechniArt to support residents implementing energy efficiency upgrades in their homes.

The task force and companies teamed up July 25-26 during the Village Fair Days on the Village Green in New Milford.

"It was fun to talk to residents about what the town is doing to promote clean energy," said task force member Kim Erickson. "There are so many programs to help people save energy and money on utility bills."

"It's satisfying to know that I'm helping people to take advantage of them," she added.

Almost 30 people signed up for the Home Energy Solutions (HES) program during Village Fair Days.

For every home that goes through the HES program, the town earns points toward a $10,000 energy efficiency grant.

Before Village Fair Days, the town was two points --about 35 homes -- away from eligibility. At that point, the town needed about 10 more homes to participate.
