Averill Farm in Washington has issued an invitation to pick-your-own enthusiasts to visit their favorite orchard earlier than usual this year.

Farm officials said they have noticed their apples are maturing about two weeks sooner than expected, mostly due to the warm weather this spring that caused some trees to bloom earlier than usual.

The ThriftMart of New Milford will hold a two-day summer's end blow out clothing bag sale Sept. 24-25.

Bags of clothing will be sold Sept. 24 for $6 and Sept. 25 for $5 at the ThriftMart at 146 Danbury Road (Route 7).

Additional items will be sold for $1 per item.
