-Candlewood Valley Health & Rehabilitation Center in New Milford has been recognized as a 2010 recipient of the Bronze Commitment to Quality National Quality Award.

The award is presented by American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living, a trade organization with approximately 11,000 members nationwide.

This year, 701 nursing homes and assisted living communities from across the nation applied for the award; Candlewood Valley Health & Rehab was one of more than 450 to receive it.

The award will be presented to the center Oct. 10-13 during AHCA/NCAL's 61st annual convention and exposition in Long Beach, Calif.

Candlewood Valley Health & Rehab may now move forward in developing approaches and achieving performance levels that meet the criteria required for the Silver Achievement in Quality Award.

The final step in the journey is the Gold Excellence in Quality Award, which requires the center to address the Baldrige Program's Health Care Criteria for Performance Excellence in its entirety.

-For the fifth year of the past six, the financial services firm of Edward Jones, which has an office in New Milford, has been ranked highest in investor satisfaction with full-service brokerage firms, according to the J.D. Power and Associates 2010 Full Service Investor Satisfaction Study.

The study measures overall satisfaction with full-service investment firms based on seven factors: investment advisor, portfolio performance, account information, account offerings, commissions and fees, Website and problem resolution.

Edward Jones' overall score climbed 10 points over last year, when it was also rated highest among the 12 largest firms.
