n ROXBURY RUNNING SERIES: The weekly Roxbury Road Race Series continues through Saturday, Dec. 5. The series will feature three championship events, each of which will carry a $5 entry fee that will provide proceeds for the Roxbury park improvement fund. The Bob Lewis MidAutumn Challenge will be held Nov. 7 over a 3.95-mile layout that includes a jeep trail. Additionally, a 3.1-mile race to benefit charity will be held Sept. 12. There will be a race every Saturday through Dec. 5. Except or the championship runs and the charity event, the races have no entry fees. All of the races will start at 8:30 a.m. The weekly series also will sponsor the sixth annual Roxbury Marathon in December. The series is sponsored by the Roxbury Recreation Commission. All of the races start near the Everett Hurlburt Community Park on West Apple Lane. n AMBER ROOM OUTRUN THE SUN 5K: The inaugural Amber Room Outrun the Sun 5K will take place on Aug. 21 and will again benefit Ann's Place. The race will start at 6:30 p.m. at The Amber Room Colonnade on Stacey Rd. in Danbury. The certified 5K (3.1. miles) runs from The Amber Room to Candlewood Lake and back. The course passes scenic water views, stately homes and old lake communities. After the race participants are invited to a post race party featuring an outdoor barbecue and live music from The Second Advance. JB Sports, Coordinator of the Stratton Faxon Danbury and New Haven Road Races, will coordinate this event with Jennifer Putnam of The Amber Room.
