The inaugural New Milford Twilight Run will await the starter's gun Friday, June 1 at 7:45 p.m. with start and finish at Young's Field in New Milford.
The race will be hosted by Breakaway Sports Event Management and is not associated with the Moonlight Run, an event held for many years.
Young's Field Road, as well as portions of Housatonic Avenue and Boardman Road, will be closed during the event.
A Kids' Fun Run will precede the race at 7:15 p.m.
"We will be focusing greater attention towards our conventional participants instead of predominantly on elite athletes," said race director Kevin Curley, a graduate of Shepaug Valley High School. "We will be accomplishing this by providing our participants with a festive family environment, technical T-shirts, great age group awards, and fast, accurate, and professional timing services courtesy of Fast Track Timing."
Race proceeds will benefit the New Milford High School boys' and girls' cross country teams.
"This is a great opportunity for the greater New Milford community, and we are very excited to have the opportunity to put this event on," Mr. Curley said.
Online registration is available at www.fasttracktiming.com or print and mail paper application to Breakaway Sports Event Management, P.O. Box 63, Morris, CT 06763.
Signup will be $25 on race day.
Packet/chip pickup will begin on site at 4:30 p.m.
