Sherman Park & Recreation notes

The Sherman Park & Recreation Department offers programs throughout the year.

FAMILY

Kayaks and canoes

Registration for canoe and kayak racks is open at 9 a.m. at the Park and Rec office. Cost is $40 for residents only.

Family swim

Residents can swim at the New Fairfield High School pool as part of a program in cooperation with New Fairfield Park and Recreation. For signup or information, check www.newfairfield.org and link to departments/park and recreation/special events/family open swim.

Gardens

Signup is open for 20 by 20-foot garden plots. Each plot is $4.

YOUTH

Summer jobs

Positions are available for summer employment as lifeguards, swim instructors or junior or senior camp counselors.

Applications are available at the Park & Rec office.

SPARK

An after-school program for schoolchildren in grades K-8 meets weekdays from 2:30 to 6 p.m. during the school year under the direction of Stephen Rianhard and Lynn Silk.
