Sophomores at Shepaug Valley School will co-host a road race this spring to generate funds for its activities and for Lyme disease research.
The Class of 2017 students will co-sponsor a 4.2-mile event May 9 at 8:30 a.m. with the Roxbury road race series.
The Roxbury course will include the descent of Ranney Hill Road and the long climb on Hemlock Road.
The $5 entry fee will benefit the Class of 2017 treasury and a suggested donation of $5 would be given to the American Lyme Disease Foundation.
Registration will be offered May 9 from 7 to 8:20 a.m. at Hurlburt Community Park, near the race's start and finish.
The Class of 2017 raised $380 for its treasury and additional money for Lyme disease awareness in May 2014 by piggybacking a Roxbury road race.
The run is part of the weekly series, which is sanctioned by the Roxbury Recreation Commission.
The high school is part of Region 12, which encompasses Washington, Roxbury and Bridgewater.
