The Roxbury road race series will open its 36th season Feb. 18 at 8:30 a.m. with a 2.4-mile run.
The inaugural run will feature the steep ascent on Chalybes Road. There will be no entry fee.
The weekly series will continue into early December.
Races, sanctioned by the Roxbury Recreation Commission, start and finish near Hurlburt Community Park on West Apple Lane.
The series, founded by former Roxbury resident Bill Burley in 1977, will offer 40 races in 2012, including some on new courses.
Highlights will be seasonal championship races and increasingly popular half-marathon and marathon events.
