The forecast for this Sunday is for slightly above freezing temperatures and some stiff breezes in the Lake Waramaug environs.
For veterans of the popular Polar Bear Run, that sounds perfect.
The 29th edition of the event will be held Sunday, Feb. 24 with an 11 a.m. start near the Lake Waramaug Country Club tennis courts, adjacent to the intersection of Golf Links and North Shore roads in New Preston.
Runners are encouraged to car pool due to limited parking.
For inclement weather updates, check www.lakewaramaugpolarbearun.com. Snow date would be March 3.
The course is a mostly flat, 7.6-mile tour run counter-clockwise around Lake Waramaug, including stretches through the New Preston section of Washington, Warren and Kent.
Race day signup will be available for $25. Checks should be made payable David Dunleavy, 243C Kent Road, Kent, CT 06757.
The first 250 registrants will receive commemorative headbands.
Among the event's sponsors are The Greater New Milford Spectrum, the Western Connecticut Health Network, the Woodbridge Running Company and Trailheads in Kent.
