The 31st edition of the Polar Bear Run around Lake Waramaug will be contested Feb. 22.

The race will start at 11 a.m. in front of the Lake Waramaug Country Club tennis courts to kick off a 7.6-mile tour through corners of Washington, Warren and Kent.

The event is held in memory of Wallie Jahn, a longtime New Milford distance runner who resurrected the Polar Bear Run back in the late 1980s.

The race is also a fundraiser for the Loaves & Fishes Hospitality House in New Milford.

Registration will be held at Lake Waramaug Country Club. Runners can preregister at lakewaramaugpolarbearrun.com.

The first 300 registered runners will receive commemorative running gloves.

Runners are encouraged to carpool due to limited parking.
