Murphy's New Milford debut postponed until Sunday

Thursday's much-anticipated Masuk at New Milford SWC football game was postponed by the lightning storm that passed through the state and will be played Sunday at 2 p.m.
The game was to mark the New Milford debut of coach John Murphy after 16 highly successful seasons at Masuk, where he won three state and six SWC titles while compiling a 158-33-12 record.
The storm forced the suspensions of several games, including Day 2 of the FCIAC-SCC Challenge.
In those games, Fairfield Prep had a 7-0 lead over host Stamford in the first quarter before the game was suspended until Friday at 3:30; West Haven was winning at Greenwich 13-7 at the half with the game resuming Sunday at 1; Darien had a 40-26 lead on defending Class M champion and visiting Hillhouse with that game resuming Friday at 4; host Hamden had a 6-0 lead over Danbury early in the game and will resume Friday at 3; visiting Fairfield Ludlowe led Lyman Hall 24-7 in Wallingford and is tentatively scheduled to be picked up Friday at 3:30; host McMahon led Wilbur Cross 13-0 and will resume Friday at 3; and finally, Shelton held a commanding 49-0 lead over visiting Trumbull at halftime. They will resume Friday at 3.
In FCIAC-SCC Challenge games that were postponed earlier in the day, Bassick is at East Haven Friday night at 7; Cheshire at Ridgefield was moved to Sunday at 2; North Haven and Central meet Friday at 4:30 at Kennedy Stadium; and Trinity Catholic takes on Sheehan in Wallingford Friday at 4:30.
One Challenge game was played with Wilton winning 21-20 at Guilford.
In the SWC, one game was played with Oxford beating Weston 23-6. Postponements in the SWC, besides Masuk-New Milford, included ; Newtown at Pomperaug to Friday at 4; Bethel at Barlow to Friday at 4; Stratford at ND-Fairfield to Friday at 4; and New Fairfield at Immaculate to Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
