Hikes will be offered June 2 to 3 in Kent in recognition of the 20th annual Connecticut Trails Day.
Steve Pener of the Pond Mountain Trust, the Kent Land Trust and the Kent Conservation Commission will lead a hike at 9 a.m. starting at Pond Mountain Trust. The five-mile, rain-or-shine hike will pass by Fuller Pond, link up with the Appalachian Trail and continue on to Numeral Rock. Residents are asked to meet at Kent Town Hall on Kent Green to carpool to the trailhead. Advance registration is required; email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Kent and Sharon land trusts and Sharon's Conservation Commission will lead a hike June 3 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. of the Skiff Mountain Preserve. The approximately 3.5-mile hike will traverse new trails linking the north and south portions of the preserve. Leashed dogs are permitted. Attendees should meet leaders in the large lot behind the science center and adjacent to the athletic center at Marvelwood School, 476 Skiff Mountain Road.
In case of rain, the hike will be canceled. Advance registration is suggested by emailing email@example.com.
