Outstanding performances during the fall term athletic season at the Gunnery were recognized Dec. 11 during the Washington school's annual awards ceremony.

Athletic director Jon Russillo addressed the school community, thanking the players, captains and coaches for a great fall season and reminding everyone how important it is to be grateful for the unique opportunity of being part of a team.

Highlighting the event was the presentation by varsity field hockey captains Hanna Carlin, '13, Krista Lamoreaux, '13 and Katlyn Paiva, '14, of their team's New England Class C championship plaque to Head of School Peter Becker.

Mr. Becker congratulated the girls for their 16-1-0 season and led the school in a standing ovation.

Mr. Russillo introduced various student-athletes as all-stars for their respective sports.

Finally, fall-term athletic awards were presented:

Hoadley Soccer Award -- Skyler Clark, '14, of Washington;

John Jacob Gunther Award for MVP in football -- Kellen Croce, '13, of Middlebury;

Varsity football's Coach's Award -- Thomas Burger, '13, of New Canaan;

Whitman Cross Country Trophy -- Tristan Kishonis, '13, of Watertown;

Cornell Field Hockey Award -- Katlyn Paiva, '14, of Rehoboth, Mass.;

Most Valuable Player for field hockey -- Krista Lamoreaux, '13, of Avon;

Girls' soccer MVP -- Isabela Bagi, '13, of Branford;

Girls' soccer's Coach's Award -- Paige Silengo, '13, of Madison;

MVP girls' fall crew -- Brianna Goldstein, '13, of Bridgewater;

MVP boys' fall crew -- Robert Hooper, '14, of Redmond, Wash.
