Hopes were high at mid-season that 2015 might prove a winning campaign for New Milford High School girls' tennis.

Coach Deirdre Burke's court crew had just defeated Notre Dame of Fairfield, 7-0, on April 30. With a 4-5 ledger, a plus W-L ledger seemed in the offing.

However, the Green Wave has since met defeat to five straight South-West Conference net rivals.

As coach Burke and Co. headed this week into its final matches, the NMHS girls simply were striving to regain their winning touch at least one more time.

The Green Wave was set Tuesday to visit Masuk in Monroe and host Stratford Wednesday. They're slated to finish up the regular season May 15 vs. non-league foe Lewis Mills in Burlington.
